Apple rolls out new beta firmware for AirPods Pro 2 with potential hearing features
Apple has introduced a new beta firmware update for the AirPods Pro 2, now available to developers. This update, with the build number 7B5013d, applies to both the Lightning and USB-C versions of the AirPods Pro. It’s an upgrade from the previous beta version (7B5013c) and is currently only accessible to developers for testing purposes.
While details about specific improvements in this update haven’t been shared yet, there’s speculation based on Apple’s earlier announcements that new features related to hearing aid functionality and hearing tests could be on the way for the AirPods Pro 2. These enhancements are expected to arrive later this year, improving accessibility for users with hearing challenges.
Even though this firmware is still in beta and available only to developers right now, Apple plans to release it to all AirPods Pro 2 users shortly. This aligns with Apple’s strategy of testing new features and updates within the developer community before wider public releases.
By allowing developers to test the firmware first, Apple ensures that the new functionality is polished and ready for mass use once it’s rolled out more broadly.
