The estimated Macs shipped in this quarter were 5.5 million, which was 7.3% up from the last year’s 5.1 million units. Apple’s market share in Macs grew from 7.5 percent to 7.7 percent from the last year’s Q3. While, some of the other PC manufacturers also encountered higher growth.

Acer and Asus saw remarkable growth in the shipment in Q3 with an increase of 29.5% and 12.9 percent respectively. But still, both of the companies couldn’t tackle Apple’s position due to their limited number of shipments.

Lenovo topped the list with an estimated 18 million PC shipped in Q3, up from 16.9 million shipments last year. HP gained the second position with only a 0.7 percent increase from last year’s Q3.

Even though Dell made it to the third position but the shipments saw a slight decline from last year. The company shipped 10.8 million PCs as compared to 11.3 million in the third quarter of 2019.

The main reason for the growth in the PC shipments this year is due to the ongoing pandemic which caused people to work from home.

Apple plans to introduce new ARM-based Silicon chips that will replace the intel based processors in upcoming Macs. This transition could increase the sales for the Macs in the coming time. The new Macs could be launched until the end of this year.
