Apple supplier Foxconn facing tax probe in China
Foxconn is one of the world’s largest manufacturers and Apple’s main contractor for the production of products ranging from iPhones to MacBooks seems to come under scrutiny in China as authorities launch a tax probe into the company.
According to the information, Foxconn is facing tax inspections in Guangdong and Jiangsu Provinces and is being investigated in Henan and Hubei Provinces to determine whether it has complied with land use regulations.
The audit comes less than three months ahead of Taiwan’s presidential election and amid Foxconn’s diversification drive to move some production out of China.
- Legal compliance was a “fundamental principle” of its operations everywhere, and it would “actively cooperate with the relevant units on the related work and operations”.
