Apple is committed to reduce the carbon footprint of its products so the company will issue an authorization to its service center to access the TrueDepth camera service part which includes Face ID and Front camera module. This allows technicians to repair the same device instead of replacing the entire iPhone.
From the user’s point of view, it is cheaper to fix the Face ID issue than to replace the entire device. But the service charge for the repair has not been disclosed yet.
Although the Face ID feature was introduced with the iPhone 10 in 2017, the latest rollout plan is only available for the iPhone 10S or later.
Upon authorization, the Apple Store and Service Center will be able to use the Apple Service Diagnostic Toolkit to fix the same unit Face ID problem instead of replacing the entire device. Apple in a released document said authorization will be provided later and training for the same.
