Ming-Chi Kuo pointed out that, as expected, Apple did not release an AR/MR headset at WWDC22. Its predictions for Apple’s AR/MR headset schedule are as follows:

  • EVT (Engineering Verification Test, Engineering Verification) starts in the third quarter of 2022.

  • January 2023 media event.

  • The development kit is delivered within 2-4 weeks of the event.

  • Pre-orders begin in Q2 2023.

  • Available before the WWDC23 Worldwide Developers Conference in 2023.

Ming-Chi Kuo previously stated that it will take some time before Apple’s AR/MR headsets enter mass production. He believes that Apple will not release AR/MR headsets and realityOS systems at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC).

If AR/MR headsets are Apple’s most important product since the iPhone’s release, AR/MR headsets and realityOS systems need a separate launch.

In January of this year, Ming-Chi Kuo pointed out in a report that Apple’s AR/MR device uses dual ABF carrier boards. Each Apple AR/MR headset will be equipped with dual CPUs produced by 4nm and 5nm, and both CPUs will use ABF carrier boards.

At that time, Ming-Chi Kuo claimed that Apple’s Metaverse headset was about 2-3 years ahead of competitors’ products in computing power. From 2024 to 2025, Apple’s competitors’ AR/VR/MR products will also have PC/Mac-level computing power and use ABF carrier boards.
