Apple’s big fall 2024 product lineup: What to Expect

Top 3 Key Points:

  1. iPhone 16 Lineup: Major upgrades, including larger displays, AI-powered A18 Pro chips, and advanced camera features.
  2. AirPods 4 and AirPods Max 2: New tiers and improvements, with USB-C charging and enhanced audio capabilities.
  3. MacBook Pro and Mac Mini: Powered by the M4 chip, the Mac Mini getting a major redesign.

As we approach fall 2024, Apple is preparing for its biggest product launch of the year. While the summer was quiet, things are about to change with a series of new releases, beginning with the highly anticipated iPhone 16 event in September. Here’s a look at what’s expected to be announced.

iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max

Apple’s flagship iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models are set to receive significant upgrades. The Pro model will feature a 6.3-inch display, while the Pro Max will have a 6.9-inch screen, both larger than last year’s models. A new hardware button dedicated to camera control is expected, alongside camera enhancements like an improved Ultra Wide camera, better low-light performance, and a 5x optical zoom. Under the hood, the A18 Pro chip, designed for AI tasks, will power these devices.

iPhone 16 and 16 Plus

The standard iPhone 16 and 16 Plus will maintain the same display sizes as last year’s models, but they might share the A18 Pro chip found in the Pro models. Another possibility is the introduction of two new chips: an A18 for the base models and the A18 Pro for the higher-end versions. All models are expected to include a new camera control button and benefit from iOS 18’s AI features.

AirPods 4 and AirPods Max 2

Apple is launching two versions of the AirPods 4, catering to different price points. Both models will have USB-C charging cases and a redesigned stem that blends elements from the AirPods Pro and AirPods 3. The higher-end model will feature noise cancellation and support for Find My. The AirPods Max 2 will finally get an update, switching to USB-C and adding features like Adaptive Audio, Conversation Awareness, and Personalized Audio, currently exclusive to AirPods Pro 2.

Apple Watch Series 10 and Apple Watch Ultra 3

The Apple Watch Series 10 will see both standard sizes increase, with the smaller model matching the current larger size and the larger model matching the Ultra’s screen size. The Series 10 will also have a more powerful chip that could support future AI capabilities, as well as new health sensors for detecting hypertension and sleep apnea. The Apple Watch Ultra 3 is expected to include a faster chip and possibly new health sensors, with a potential space black titanium option.

MacBook Pro and Mac Mini with M4 Chips

The new MacBook Pro models will feature Apple’s M4, M4 Pro, and M4 Max chips, marking the end of the iPad Pro’s exclusive run with the M4 chip. The Mac Mini will also be updated with the M4 chip, and it’s set to receive a major redesign, making it significantly smaller, and closer in size to the Apple TV 4K.

Other Potential Releases

Apple may also introduce an updated iPad mini 7 with an improved display and possibly an M-class chip, an 11th-gen iPad with a more powerful chip, and a new iMac with the M4 chip. There are also rumors of an updated Apple TV 4K and a HomePod with a display, though these may not include any groundbreaking features.

As always, Apple’s fall product lineup is highly anticipated, and this year promises to be no exception, with significant updates across the board.
