ARM, the global leader in graphics processing units (GPUs) for smartphones and tablets, has lost ground in 2020. This is the conclusion reached by analysts at Strategy Analytics.

Trade sanctions against HiSilicon, Arm’s key licensee, and competitive pressure from Apple and Imagination have impacted Arm’s Mali-branded GPU shipments, dropping their market share to 39% in 2020.
Another Arm licensee, Samsung LSI, will introduce Exynos SoCs with AMD GPUs this year, which analysts say will further reduce Arm’s share.
