Blizzcon 2021 has been canceled, according to a statement made by Blizzcon executive producer Sarlin Smith via the Blizzcon site. The company plans to roll things out early next year with a global event that combines its latest online program, BlizzConline, with “small-to-personal celebrations”.
Smith said the COVID-19 pandemic and California’s changing security guidelines were due to abrupt termination. Blizzard said these issues left the blizzard and its partners uncertain as to whether fans could keep an event at the level expected until November.

This is not the first hit the company has taken recently. Uncertainty has recently become a key issue for the company with the recent departure of Overwatch director Jeff Kaplan and Overwatch lead character artist Read Galland.
While Overwatch 2 was clearly on the horizon – with more information about the game being released just days before the blizzard – a string of bad news left fans wondering what the future of the company would look like. IGN recently published a report on the status of the company, which outlines a list of pain points the company has experienced over the years.
Despite this cancellation fans of Overwatch and Diablo may have more information about the route, the show in early 2022 was confirmed by Smith via the same post. Hope to know more about this online-physical hybrid event at the end of this online.
