BYD and British bus maker Alexander Dennis announced that they had once again acquired the British First Bus for a total of 126 pure electric buses. Orders, this is also the largest pure electric bus project in the history of Scotland.
The order includes two single-deck and double-deck models jointly developed by BYD and ADL. It is planned to be delivered to the First Bus Company in early 2023 and put into operation in Glasgow, Scotland’s largest city.
BYD said that relying on core technologies such as batteries, motors, and electronic control, will give chassis and power systems for these buses. The structure will be produced at ADL’s Falkirk plant in Scotland.
Just last year, the UK’s First Bus Company announced that it would no longer buy fuel buses from 2022 and achieve zero emissions from all bus fleets by 2035.
