Overwolf is a developer platform, it provides them with the tools to create various modifications. In the case of Warzone, the platform was used to collect real-time player statistics. Suspicious profiles were noted and users could easily track potential cheaters in the lobby.
A post has been posted on the official Overwolf blog explaining the situation around the mod for Warzone. The developers explained that this ban caught not only the players by surprise but the company itself. Overwolf is “actively negotiating with game developers” to ensure that its game apps never violate the user agreement. At the moment, Overwolf and Activision are trying to solve this problem.
