Amazing! Fairphone is the most discussed member of the phone market these days as it has amazed every Android tech maker by announcing 7 years of software support for its devices. To date, Samsung was wearing the crown of the best Android king for its reliable update policy, but Fairphone is playing one step ahead in this game.
Recently, Fairphone declared that the four-year-old Fairphone 3 model will gain 7 years of software support, until 2026. The news appeared via an official tweet on the Android 13 upgrade rollout for Fairphone 3 and 3+ devices. Notably, the tech giant also described why it has skipped Android 12 for these phones:
“You might have also noticed that we skipped Android 12 and went straight for Android 13. This has to do with the fact that the chipset manufacturer no longer supported it, so our amazing internal team has taken over software support.”

The company further said that the plan was to end the software support by August 2024. Although due to the core values based on longevity, they increased the life cycle of these devices by 2 more years. Still, these phones will lack a few Android functionalities due to SoC incompatibility.
