Galaxy S25 FE: What we know about its Exynos chip
The Galaxy S24 FE has just hit the market, and it might seem early to speculate about the Galaxy S25 FE. Yet, several reports provide insights into Samsung’s plans, particularly regarding the Exynos chips that could power the next Fan Edition smartphone.
Exynos 2500 Chip Canceled
Recent rumors, notably from tipster @chunvn8888, suggest that Samsung has quietly scrapped the Exynos 2500 system-on-chip (SoC). The decision comes after the Exynos 2500 was unable to compete with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chip. As a result, Samsung may utilize the Snapdragon 8 Elite across its entire Galaxy S25 lineup globally. This development presents a mixed bag for consumers.
The plan Flip 7 using Exynos 2500 is cancelled according to Korean media reports, the rest of Galaxy S25 series will use the Snapdragon 8 Elite besides the Ultra, Galaxy S25 FE will use the Exynos 2400 like the S24.
RIP to Exynos 2500, aka dream team. What a waste of R&D money

On one hand, it’s disappointing news for Samsung’s Exynos division and any remaining fans of the brand. On the other hand, it’s good news for Galaxy S25 enthusiasts who prefer Snapdragon chips. However, this cancellation poses challenges for potential buyers of the Galaxy S25 FE, leaving them with fewer chip options.
Galaxy S25 FE: Likely to Use Exynos 2400 Chip
The current Galaxy S24 FE employs a modified version of the Exynos 2400 chip, dubbed Exynos 2400e. This variant is slightly underclocked, but it delivers satisfactory performance. Initially, there were hopes that the Galaxy S25 FE would incorporate a tweaked Exynos 2500e SoC. However, if the base Exynos 2500 chip is indeed canceled, it follows that the 2500e variant will not materialize.
Consequently, it seems that the Galaxy S25 FE will likely utilize the regular Exynos 2400 chip. This strategy allows Samsung to market the S25 FE as having a more advanced processor than its predecessor. Although the performance improvement may be minimal, the Exynos 2400 is technically superior to the Exynos 2400e.
Future Possibilities: MediaTek Option?
While speculation continues regarding the Galaxy S25 FE, some reports suggest that Samsung might still be developing the Exynos 2500 chip. Additionally, there’s chatter about a potential switch to MediaTek solutions for the upcoming Fan Edition device. However, the future remains uncertain as more information surfaces.
Conclusion
In summary, the Galaxy S25 FE’s future seems to hinge on Samsung’s strategic decisions regarding its chipsets. The potential cancellation of the Exynos 2500 could limit options for the upcoming model, but the utilization of the Exynos 2400 allows for a narrative of progress. As the smartphone market evolves, fans and consumers will be eager to see how Samsung navigates these changes and what features the Galaxy S25 FE will ultimately offer.
