It is Qualcomm that leads in monetary terms, that is, in terms of revenue, occupying 56% of the market. Third place on both counts went to Samsung LSI, which supplies thin 5G modems for smartphones and tablets under the Exynos brand.
Experts on calculations and forecasts remind that the thin Qualcomm X55 5G modem is used not only in smartphones of the iPhone 12 line but also in several flagship models with Android OS.
Strategy Analytics expects Qualcomm to continue to ramp up shipments this year. In addition to smartphones and tablets, baseband processors are in demand in IoT devices, cars, permanently connected PCs, and solutions for fixed and mobile wireless access.
