Google and Android TV will soon get a significant chip upgrade

Google is mainly focusing on the upcoming Pixel lineup these days. But this progress didn’t have any impact on the development of other major products. As per the latest revealings, Google and Android TV will soon grip a significant chip upgrade in the form of Amlogic S905X5.

For your information, Google and Android TV use the same chip upgrade – Amlogic. As of now, a new report from SEI Robotics has teased a unique reference box that flaunts the Amlogic S905X5 chipset. While the box itself holds new features such as Dolby Atmos and eARC, the chipset is a big story to cover.

According to the details, the Amlogic S905X5 stands over a 6nm process technology. Note that previous versions relied on the 12nm process. Thus, it is a prominent leap and promises improved power efficiency. The chip is hearsay to offer 50% less power consumption.

On the flip side, the chip supports a Mali-G310 GPU clocked at 1GHz and a VPU that supports AV1, H.265, and VP9. Besides, the latest CPU has an updated ARM with Cortex-A510. Google is already working on a new Chromecast device and we could expect the arrival new chipset with it.
