On October 4, Google officially introduced the 12th iteration of its Android operating system, Android 12. The software maker announced that this version will be available to test on many smartphone makers including Samsung, Oppo, OnePlus, Relme, Tecno, Vivo, Xiaomi, and other devices.
Alongside this, Google also released the latest CCD compatibility definition document. This document details the hardware requirements that Android 12 needs to meet to facilitate device manufacturing quotient reference.

It should be noted that if the hardware does not conform to the standard, it does not mean that it cannot be upgraded. The document requires manufacturers and developers to perform hierarchical optimizations. Devices with poor performance will lose part of the experience.
Android 12’s CDD document introduces the concept of “performance class”, where developers can query the hardware information of the device, thereby dividing the device into different performance levels.
In devices with low-performance levels, developers can choose to turn off some functions or reduce some animations, so that the device can run smoothly.
Google Android 12 hardware level requirements
The performance level 12 requirements for Android 12 are:
- At least 6GB RAM
- At least 400dpi and 1080p resolution screen
- At least 120MB/s sequential write, 250MB/s sequential read, 10MB/s random write, and 40MB/s random read speed
- Must be (at least) equipped with a 12MP rear camera capable of recording at 4K 30 FPS
- Must have (at least) a 4MP front camera capable of recording at 1080p 30 FPS
The requirements for the lower performance level 11 are:
- At least 6GB RAM
- At least 400dpi and 1080p resolution screen
- At least 100MB/s sequential write, 200MB/s sequential read, 10MB/s random write, and 25MB/s random read speed
- Must be (at least) equipped with a 12MP rear camera capable of recording at 4K 30 FPS
- Must have (at least) a 4MP front camera capable of recording at 1080p 30 FPS
