Google Chrome to add an advanced Picture-in-Picture window
Google Chrome is a browsing extension, which includes various capabilities and one of them is the PiP. Now to offer a more relevant and appropriate performance, the developer is planning to add support for the advanced Picture-in-Picture window to Chrome.
So far, the Picture in Picture window on the desktop web was basic, but now by adding some advancements to the PiP. The company will make it more realistic and convenient, there could also be the Previous Track” and “Next track” buttons which are currently not implemented by sites.

As per the information, the new Picture-in-Picture application programming interface (API) will make it possible to open an always-on-top window that can be populated with arbitrary HTML content.” Notable, this means custom buttons and video controls, like a timeline scrubber, like and dislike, and captions will be available.

The API can more easily combine multiple streams into a single PiP during video calls, while possible buttons include “sending a message, muting another user, or raising a hand. Notably, the developer support for advanced instances of Picture-in-Picture is currently in testing with Chrome 111 as an origin trial.
Picture-in-Picture (PiP) allows you to watch videos in a floating window, which means it remains on top of other windows. So that you can keep an eye on what you’re watching while interacting with other sites, or applications.
