Google Drive has introduced an automatic “Enhance” feature for its document scanner on Android devices. This update was announced as part of December’s Pixel Feature Drop.
The Google Drive document scanner, redesigned last year, includes features like Auto Capture, Crop & Rotate tools, Filters, and the ability to clean marks such as stains or fingers. It also supports saving documents in JPEG format and offers a black-and-white filter.
With the new “Enhance” feature, users can now automatically improve the quality of scanned documents without manual adjustments. Tapping the sparkle icon on the Preview screen applies enhancements like:
- White balance correction
- Shadow removal
- Better contrast
- Auto sharpening
- Light adjustments
The feature works seamlessly on receipts, documents, ID cards, and other scans. Enhanced results appear cleaner and flatter compared to the original.
Google confirmed that this update is rolling out gradually. It will be fully available in the coming weeks for all Google Workspace users, Workspace Individual subscribers, and personal Google account holders.
