Google Home Gets Smarter
Google Home is introducing a new feature called “Help me create,” which allows you to create custom automation for your smart home devices using simple voice commands. You can say things like “Turn off the lights at 11 PM every night” or “Lock all the doors when everyone’s away,” and Google Home will create an automation for you.
How it works:
- Open the Google Home app: Launch the app on your Android or iOS device.
- Tap on the “Automations” tab: This will take you to the automation screen.
- Tap on the “Add” button: This will open the “Help me create” feature.
- Speak your command: Say your desired automation, such as “Turn off the lights at 11 PM every night.”
- Review and customize: Google Home will generate an automation based on your command. You can review and customize the automation’s triggers, conditions, and actions as needed.
- Save the automation: Once you’re satisfied with the automation, save it, and it will start working immediately.
Example Automations:
- Wake-up routine: Turn on the lights, play your favorite music, and open the curtains at a specific time.
- Bedtime routine: Turn off the lights, lower the thermostat, and set a sleep timer.
- Away mode: Lock the doors, turn off the lights, and adjust the thermostat when you leave home.
- Welcome home routine: Turn on the lights, play your favorite music, and adjust the thermostat to a comfortable temperature when you arrive home.
