Google Lens search shortcut in Chrome
Key Points:
- Google Lens is coming to Chrome’s address bar.
- Easily search anything on your screen with a simple drag.
- Get quick answers and continue browsing without leaving the page.
Google is making it easier to find information online with a new feature called “Circle to Search” coming to its Chrome web browser. This feature uses Google Lens, a powerful image recognition tool, to help you search for anything you see on your screen.
Chromebooks Get a Lens Boost
If you use a Chromebook, you’ll notice a new Google Lens icon next to the bookmark star in the address bar. Clicking this icon turns your cursor into a crosshair with a magnifying glass. Simply drag this crosshair over anything on your screen, like a picture or text, and Google Lens will find relevant information.
Desktop Users Not Left Out
While Chromebooks get a dedicated Lens icon, Windows and Mac users will find the feature in the Chrome menu. You can pin it to the toolbar for quick access. Once activated, you can select any part of a webpage by dragging your mouse over it.
How it Works
After selecting an item, Google Lens will display results in a side panel. You can refine your search by typing keywords in the panel.
This new feature is currently available in beta versions of Chrome and Chrome OS, but it’s expected to be released to the public soon.
With Google Lens integration, Chrome becomes even more powerful, allowing you to explore the web visually and find information faster than ever before.
