Google Maps takes you back in time
Google Maps is turning into a time machine! You can now use augmented reality (AR) to see how Paris looked in the past. Imagine standing in front of the Eiffel Tower and seeing it as it was originally planned, or walking along the Seine River and witnessing virtual reconstructions of old buildings.
This cool new feature lets you explore the rich history of Paris like never before. Google has teamed up with experts to create accurate and detailed 3D models of the city’s past. You can see famous landmarks as they looked centuries ago, and even experience virtual tours of historical events.
To use this feature, simply open Google Maps and search for a location with available AR content. You’ll see an “AR Experience” button. Tap it and point your phone at the location to see the magic unfold. Even if you’re not in Paris, you can enjoy these historical views using Google Street View.
This amazing technology is a result of a partnership between Google, Google Arts & Culture, and Ubisoft. More historical AR experiences are on the way, so get ready to become a time-traveling explorer with Google Maps!
