It is reported that the high-tech academy will offer a series of courses in computer programming, sales, and data analysis. The university said the high-tech school will fund students from underdeveloped communities “including women, Arabs, Ethiopian community members and from geo-socially marginalized and disadvantaged socioeconomic groups”.
Google Israel CEO Barak Regev said: “We believe that a variety of voices and perspectives will enrich Israel’s high-tech industry and its development.” In addition, Google will also provide scholarships for students.
It is reported that Israel’s high-tech industry is currently booming, but there is a severe shortage of skilled workers. Courses are being rolled out over the next few weeks and students completing courses at the school will earn credit towards a degree, the university said.
