Google Phone gets smarter, scam call feedback and Chromecast with Google TV gets a new update

Posted on

Google’s Phone app is getting even better at protecting you from scams.

In a recent update, Google’s Phone app has gained a new feature that lets you report scam calls directly to Google. This means you can provide details about the scam, like what the scammer asked for or pretended to be. Google will use this information to warn other users and improve its spam detection.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Report a Scam Call: When you receive a scam call, you can long-press on the call log entry and select “Block or report.”
  2. Provide Feedback: You’ll be asked to choose from a list of options, such as what the scammer requested or pretended to be.
  3. Help Others: By sharing this information, you’re helping Google protect more people from similar scams.

Another useful feature:

The Phone app now has a more prominent “Lookup” button. This button lets you quickly search for information about a phone number, even if it’s not saved in your contacts.

Chromecast with Google TV Gets a New Update:

Google has also released a new update for the Chromecast with Google TV. This update includes bug fixes and performance improvements. While it doesn’t bring the latest Android version, it does help to keep your device running smoothly.

To check for the update on your Chromecast with Google TV:

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Select System.
  3. Choose About.
  4. Tap on System update.

By staying updated with the latest software, you can ensure that your devices are secure and perform at their best.
