Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro have been launched recently. In the recent development, we have come to know that the new smartphone lineup will not receive five years of Android OS updates but will be only limited to three Androids (Via).
For the first time in history, Google’s new mobile phone is powered by Google’s self-designed Tensor chip, giving the company Apple-like control over the inner workings of the new Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro.

However, in terms of system updates, there appears to be a deviation from the previous revelations. Reportedly, Google’s support page reveals that it promises to provide Android updates only before October 2024, that is, three years after the Pixel 6 series phones were released.
Google said:
“Users will still get at least 3 years of operating system updates. After that, we promise to make sure Pixel phones will stay up to date and secure.” “The frequency and type of updates will depend on the capabilities and needs of the hardware.”
Although Google notably announced in its keynote on Tuesday, the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro will get five years of security updates — two years longer than previously. But it seems that the version update of the Android operating system (for example, Android phones) has not been satisfied.
It seems that system updates for major Android versions (like Android 11, Android 12, etc.) are another matter. Although Google technically says it will provide a new Android version “at least” by October 2024, Google hasn’t passed on these kinds of promises in its history.
