Google Pixel 8 finally supports display output via USB-C

Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro do not support DisplayPort Alternate Mode support. Now, a few months after the Pixel 8 series was first revealed, Google has changed its mind and plans to support display mirroring via cable.

With the release of Android 14 QPR3 beta 2, Google enabled DP Alt mode and allowed users to connect their Pixel to an external display. DisplayPort Alternate Mode allows selected USB-C ports for video streaming

When you connect your Pixel 8 or Pixel 8 Pro to an external display, the “mirror display” option will appear. When you click to enable it, your Android operating system will appear on the connected monitor or TV. Remember, you’ll only be able to use the normal Android 14 view unless you manually enable desktop mode in Developer Options.

It is rumored that Google is preparing to launch a DeX competitor with the Pixel 9 series, but it is yet to be confirmed.
