Currently, the Google Search and Discover app on Android opens the sites on full screen. But as per the new changes seen by some of the users, instead of opening on the full screen, it will now open in a sheet with a background of your current query. You can clearly see this in the images below.

In the screenshot, you will also see the ‘Running in Chrome’ prompt. Also, the pull tab is present on the center top of the sheet, which lets you swipe down or extend the sheet as per your needs.

Meanwhile, the new changes will not affect the readability and also, it takes care of the viewing experience of its users. It knows well, which tab needs the full screen and works accordingly.
