Posted on

Currently, the Android 11 is the latest version which has been already received by many smartphones, while many devices are yet to get this latest update and some are also testing beta as of now.

Google has announced this version back in September 2020 that comes with a bunch of new features including conversation bubbles, built-in screen recording, better privacy controls, notification history, refreshed UI, and much more. Just after the release of Android 11, several OEMs have started preparing for their own custom skin based on this latest OS for the eligible devices.

While the rollout for Android 11 is on the way and the preparations for the upcoming Android 12 are on the way. The first developer’s preview of the Android 12 is released and we can also expect the beta releases until May this year. While the stable release could be somewhere in September this year.

It is too early to say which devices will be getting the Android 12 update as there is still much time in the announcement. While we are in the middle of the Android 11 rollout and here we are with some hint of the devices that may get this upcoming Android 12 and when you can get this latest update.

Samsung (One UI 4.0)

If it all goes as per the previous year’s schedule, Samsung will release the beta program starting with the top flagships, the Galaxy S21 series phones and it will then roll it out for the other eligible devices.

When your Samsung Galaxy device will get One UI 4.0 (Android 12) update?

Samsung has totally impressed us with its update mechanism this time. The Korean tech giant has rolled out the latest One UI 3.0 update for many unexpected budgets and mid-range phones against their schedule. For the first time the Galaxy M31, the budget phone users get to test the beta update.

We expect more such surprises with this year’s Android 12 (One UI 4.0). However, it still remains the question as to which Galaxy device will get this update. The only question everybody searches for is when their Galaxy device will get the Android 12 update.

Samsung has revised its upgrade plan for the Galaxy devices and promised 3 years of major upgrades to the flagship devices that were launched with Android 9 or higher. While some of the A-series devices are also included in the list.

When your Google Pixel device will get the Android 12 update

When it comes to the latest update for the Pixel device, Google is always on the top in this field. The Google Pixel device is always the first to get the latest update on day one of its release.

Users also have an option where they can test the beta and become the first to taste all the latest features of the upcoming update that may rollout after months to any other non-Pixel device. The current Android 12 update will be released for the Pixel phones at the very beginning.

Google offers a 3 year time period for the Pixel device for the major upgrades and security updates. Looking at this policy, the company has already dropped the Google Pixel 2 from the list last year and the Android 12 will be the last update for the Pixel 3 smartphones too.

So, we can tell this one very simple, Google Pixel 3, 4, 5, 3a, and 4a/4a are the devices that will receive the upcoming Android 12 update.

When your OnePlus device will get the Android 11 (OxygenOS 12) update?

OnePlus has not been up to expectations in releasing out the latest Android 11 update this year and this is not the kind of performance that we expect from one of the top Chinese smartphone brands.

The company has released the beta program for the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro device back on September 8 last year and these phones are just updated last month to the stable version. While the other phone users are still waiting for this latest upgrade to hit their smartphones.

The OnePlus 5 and 5T are already out from the list of the Android 11 update and it is expected that the OnePlus 6 and 6T might also be removed from the list for the Android 12. The recently launched OnePlus 8/8T series and the Nord phones are confirmed for this latest update.

While the OnePlus 7/7T should also be included in the list for the upcoming Android version. Also, we expect the Chinese phone maker to be more punctual at the time of rolling out the Android 12 based OxygenOS 12 update for its smartphones.

Other Phone Makers

There are also some other Chinese phone makers including Xiaomi, Realme, Oppo, and Vivo that will also plan for their own Android 12 based custom skin to be released this year. However, nothing can be said for these companies as of now and we’ll get more on this in the coming days as the announcement of the upcoming Android version gets closer, till then stay tuned.
