Recently an email from the Huawei Developer Alliance spotted that indicates after some time AppGallery won’t allow 32-bit apps. Seems like, the company is completely concentrating on promoting 64-bit Android applications to deliver improved performance.
As mentioned in the email, the Huawei App market will only accept 64-bit versions of Android applications. However, the developer explained, improving the app enforcement and reducing the impact of power consumption are some of the reasons behind this step.
Let’s take a look at the timelines-
- Starting from February 1, 2022, games and applications newly launched/upgraded on the Huawei App Market must contain the 64-bit version.
- Starting from September 1, 2022, Huawei AppGallery will no longer accept apps containing 32-bit versions
Reports in this matter reveal, the Chinese app distribution platforms mutually decide to adopt 64-bit Arm architecture in an orderly manner. In this line, the application store of China base smartphone makers started to take action on their respective app markets.
Besides Huawei App Gallery, Xiaomi App Store, Oppo App Store, Vivo App Store, Tencent App Store, and Baidu Mobile Assistant also working on this subject. By the end of this year, these Chinese companies will only accept 64-bit build APKs of apps and games for their stores.
Furthermore, the Android applications on the market will be ready for the full spread of 64-bit architecture by the end of August 2022. Meanwhile, Apple is using 64-bit iOS applications on its App Store since 2017.
