The release of Huawei CFO (chief financial officer) Meng Wanzhou could turn the US-China relations and ease the aggressive atmosphere between the two countries. Last month, Ms. Meng returned to her homeland after three years of detention in Canada.

The story begins when Meng Wanzhou, who is the Huawei CFO and elder daughter of its founder- Ren Zhengfei was arrested in 2018. She was held on the account of a US warrant charging a fraud case on her way to Vancouver International Airport.

In the perspective of Huawei CFO arrest, the China-US relations to the lowest possible point and sources suggested that this also led to two Canadian being detention in China. If we believe the sources, Meng’s capture was a big barrier to Huawei and the US even, China-US relations.

On this matter, a report commented, “The US had been so focused on Huawei and that made it more complicated since the case against Huawei is very difficult to resolve.” In addition, CFO Meng also emphasizes this false accuse as mental torture.

Finally on 24th September Meng’s lawyers and the US justice department reached the final negotiation. Afterward, she fled back to China, while, China also release “the Michaels”. However, Huawei stated for not having any idea of the two men’s release until Meng was on a plane back from Vancouver to China.

Moreover, the overall case was so complicated for Meng, for Huawei lawyers who were attending her, for Huawei as well as the US authorities as they weren’t able to prove her guilty until she accepts the deferred prosecution agreement.

When she made a heroic comeback to her country after her long-term efforts, the sources believe it cloud ease the US-China relations. However, there are about 300 Chinese firms that are banned by the US alongside Huawei, thus pleasant relation between both countries still appears to be complicated.
