A fresh report suggests that after the operating system, Huawei is planning to make its own chipsets and the first wafer fabrication manufacturing company to build in Wuhan, Hubei Province, says Digitimes.
The production of Huawei’s self-made chipsets will begin next year. With this, Huawei is preparing to enter into the chip business which becomes a big concern for the other chip-making industries.
Huawei already has its subsidiary called HiSilicon that has the capability to design advanced-level chipsets. It is also known that this factory located in Wuhan was previously used to produce optical communication chips and modules to gain self-sufficiency and maintain the chip production of required chipsets.

It seems that this Chinese OEM is planning its own self-dependent ecosystem after getting banned in the US, first the HarmonyOS and then this chip manufacturing. Though, we will get to know if these new steps will gain the company back from the position that it has lost in the last few years.
The consumer business CEO of Huawei, Yu Chengdong previously said that the company will reach new heights in the field of semiconductors starting from the basic research and precision manufacturing of physics and material science. The company is continuously making investments in materials and its core technologies to discover new and efficient products.
Additionally, Huawei HiSilicon has also published two patents in the field of wafers on June 18 and June 22 which indicated that the Chinese OEM trying to focus on new innovations and key technical points in the semiconductor department. This suggests that Huawei may bring some interesting stuff in the future.
