Top 3 Key Points:
- Instagram users can now add a 30-second song to their profile, similar to Myspace.
- The feature lets users choose music from Instagram’s licensed library.
- Pop star Sabrina Carpenter is collaborating with Instagram for the launch, showcasing a new song on her profile.
Instagram has unveiled a new feature that lets users add a song to their profile, reminiscent of Myspace’s popular feature from the early 2000s. This new addition enhances personal profiles by allowing users to choose a 30-second clip from Instagram’s licensed music library to be displayed in their bio section. Unlike Myspace, where songs are played automatically, Instagram’s feature lets visitors manually play and pause the track.
To add a song, users simply need to visit the “edit profile” section, search for their preferred track, and select a snippet to feature on their profile. The selected song will remain on the profile until the user decides to remove or change it.
Instagram has launched this feature in partnership with pop singer Sabrina Carpenter. Starting today, Carpenter’s Instagram profile will feature a teaser of her new, unreleased song “Taste,” as a preview for her upcoming album. This exclusive preview is available only through the profile music feature, making it a unique way for fans to get an early listen.
In addition to the song feature, Instagram has also rolled out some hidden features related to Carpenter’s album “Short n’ Sweet.” For instance, typing certain keywords like “Sabrina” or using the coffee cup emoji in Notes will change the text to light blue. There’s also a Carpenter-themed chat style, complete with lipstick kiss graphics, adding an extra layer of personalization for fans.
