Intel revealed 12th and 13th generation Core desktop processors, expected to use LGA 1700 interface
Intel intends to launch a 12-generation desktop processor, code-named Alder Lake, at the end of 2021. The 13th generation desktop processor codenamed Raptor Lake planned to be launched in 2023.
Intel revealed that the 12th and 13th generation Core desktop processors are expected to use the same LGA 1700 interface, and the motherboards are compatible with each other.
As per previous news, the 12th and 13th generation processors will adopt the 10nm SuperFin process, with large and small core designs. The 12th generation processor confirmed that it will support DDR5 memory, and the 13th generation mobile terminal will support LPDDR5X memory.
Additionally, CPUs after the 12th generation are expected to support PCIe 5.0, and the single-channel bandwidth will be doubled. Intel’s 13th-generation Core will also improve CPU cache performance and enhance game performance. In addition, vPro technology for enterprise users will be further upgraded.
It is expected that the 13th-generation Core will also use 10nm process technology, but if Intel seeks TSMC’s foundry, the 7nm process technology CPU is expected to arrive early.
