WhatsApp is one of the most popular messaging platforms. Slowly, Facebook‘s messaging service is adding new features to the platform, including hidden chat backup, multi-device support, voice messaging, and more.
Recently, WABetaInfo has discovered another new feature developed for WhatsApp for Android- how to control the backup size. The full chat backup size of the remaining WhatsApp users can easily hold a few gigabytes. An obvious way to mitigate this situation is not to save the media files along with the chat history, which may not be acceptable to everyone.

The upcoming “Manage Backup Size” option will give users finer control over their WhatsApp chat backups and allow them to store important file types such as photos, documents, videos, and audios. WhatsApp will also provide an accurate database of your chat database based on your backup options.
There can be another reason for using this feature of WhatsApp. WhatsApp backup to Google Drive is not currently counted in your account share.
Although WABetaInfo believes this may change in the future. Google provides only up to 2GB of free space for each user to backup WhatsApp chats. This means that large backups may be partially dependent on the storage portion of your Google Account.
Google has recently had a problem providing free storage space. Despite its popularity and high usage rate, it ended the free Google Photos storage program earlier this year. WhatsApp is used by over 2 billion users worldwide, and we wouldn’t be surprised if Google did the same for WhatsApp chat backup.
