Lexar released its first SD Express memory card, uses PCle interface
Lexar has released its flagship SD Express memory card that utilizes the PCle interface and has a theoretical transmission bandwidth of up to 985MB/s, which is more than three times the speed of the UHS-II SD card, compatible with the traditional SD interface.
Lexar’s SD Express memory card has two forms: SD Express and microSD Express. SD Express has a maximum capacity of 512GB, and microSD Express has a maximum capacity of 256GB. The measured read speed is 824MB/s.
The input speed is 410MB/s, the new products are expected to be launched in the second quarter of 2021, and are currently being introduced in cooperation with the original makers of the relevant host equipment. Lexar SD Express memory card is equipped with a Huirong SM2708 control chip.
Duan Xiting, Senior Vice President of Marketing and R&D of Huirong Technology, said: “Many of the latest high-end cameras and mobile phones can record video at 8K, so a faster transfer rate is required.
The SM2708 controller now supports the SD8.0 specification, which increases the data throughput by more than three times and can realize 8K video shooting. RAW format photography, multi-channel IoT equipment, automotive storage, and other applications that require ultra-high speed.”
