Posted on

LG Display plans to expand the production capacity of OLED panels for TVs in its Guangzhou factory, starting in July from 60,000 per month to 90,000 substrates.

The factory mainly manufactures 8.5-generation panels and includes two production lines. In order to increase production capacity, LG Display will carry out certain upgrades to the factory, but it will not spend too much money on this.

In addition to the Guangzhou plant, LG’s plant in Paju, South Korea is also producing large-size OLED panels with a monthly production capacity of 90,000 substrates. After the Guangzhou factory is upgraded, LG OLED panel production will reach 170,000 substrates per month, which is expected to further reduce the price of OLED TVs.

A person familiar with the matter disclosed that the production capacity of LG Display’s Guangzhou plant is currently very stable, and there is a great demand for large-size OLED panels in the market. LG Display’s goal is to ship 7-8 million large-size OLED panels this year, an increase of 80% compared to last year.
