Maruti Suzuki Baleno scores 0 in the Latin NCAP crash test

Maruti Suzuki Baleno scores zero in the Latin NCAP(New Car Assessment Programme) crash test. The test models were manufactured at Maruti Suzuki’s plant in Gujarat, India.

Latin NCAP crash test results:

Safety equipment:

The base variant of the Baleno tested by Latin NCAP had 2 airbags, seat belt pretensioners, seatbelt reminder, ISOFIX points on the outer rear seats, and ABS.

Adult safety test:

The Maruti Suzuki Baleno scored 20 percent in the adult occupant protection. It scores 8 out of 12 points from the frontal offset but got 0 points in the whiplash rear impact test and side movable deformable barrier test.

Child safety test:

The Maruti Suzuki Baleno scored 17 percent in the child occupant protection test. It scores 4.36 out of 12 points in the safety restraints installation category, while it gets 4 out of 13 points in the vehicle assessment test. The Baleno scored 0 in the actual dynamic tests.

Baleno received the highest score in the Pedestrian protection test in which it scored 64.06 percent but no test was conducted because it did not have any active pedestrian protection features.

The Baleno received 6.98 percent in the safety assist test, where it gets all its scores from the seat belt reminder only other than that it got zero because it did not have a lane-keep system, road edge detection, blind spot detection, ESC, or any autonomous emergency braking features.
