Microsoft announced that its Xbox Series X/S will support AMD’s FSR (FidelityFX Super Resolution) technology recently released at the Taipei International Computer Show, which is a benchmark against Nvidia’s DLSS technology to provide a higher running frame rate for game consoles.
When AMD released the FSR technology, it said that the technology is developed around advanced spatial magnification algorithms that optimize the game through ultra-high-quality edges and unique pixel details.

In the test shown, with super quality enabled, the number of frames of “Fall of the Gods” running at 4K resolution was 49fps. After turning on FSR, the number of frames increased to 78fps, an increase of 59%.
At the same time, FSR technology also supports normal quality, balance, and performance modes at 4K resolution. In this mode, the game’s FPS can be increased by more than twice.
In addition to Microsoft’s Xbox game console, AMD stated when it released FSR technology that the Radeon RX 6000, RX 5000, RX 500, and RX Vega series of graphics cards, as well as all Ryzen processors equipped with Radeon graphics cards, will be able to enable the FSR function.
FSR technology, a graphics processing enhancement function, is provided to developers, rather than automatically applied to hardware upgrades, so it is not clear when the games on Microsoft Xbox Series X/S can support FSR technology.
