A new update for Chromecast with Google TV (June 2024) is now available, arriving just before the release of the anticipated Google TV Streamer.

The latest update, version STTL.240508.005, replaces the previous STTE.240315.002 version. This update enhances the Android security patch to June 2024, up from April 2024. While the detailed changelog hasn’t been updated yet, the update focuses on minor bug fixes and performance improvements.
Update Size and Frequency
Today’s update is relatively small at 71.94 MB. This is the fifth update for Chromecast with Google TV in the last eight months, including updates in February, March, April, May, and now August. This pace exceeds last year’s update schedule, which saw updates in January, April, May, July, October, and December.
Notable Features
Earlier this year, the first update introduced Fast Pair and an audio output switcher in Quick Settings. The upcoming major update is expected to add a “Home runtime” feature, enabling the Chromecast with Google TV to function as a hub for Matter devices.
