Yes! EU Parliament is working on a significant law that will return to the era of the replaceable battery. The European Parliament voted to mark an end to the glued batteries. Eventually, this new regulation will pressurize brands to make such devices that can let users replace batteries easily.
With his implementation, the European Union aims to make batteries more sustainable and reusable for consumers. On the flip side, users will be able to opt for DIY (Do It Yourself) repairs instead of costly battery services and maintenance facilities.
Apart from this segment, the new law also prohibits manufacturers to sell those devices that often require a specific tool or some kind of process to open the phone and access the battery. The overall implementation will take time to get into action. Perhaps, we can only expect a change by 2027.
This shift will not only impact phone selling inside the European boundaries but also across the globe. Further, this will improve the older battery collection and will raise the portable battery amount from 45 to 73 percent by 2030.
