OnePlus Android 13 to bring more Material You theming options with OxygenOS 13
OnePlus OxygenOS 12 has a color palette that syncs with your phone’s wallpaper and, when activated, applies not only to menus, buttons, and backgrounds but also to Google and OnePlus app icons on your phone. But that’s not enough, users want these themes to be functional for third-party apps on their phones as well.

Fortunately, that can be true! Google Android 13 has just adopted the easter egg, filled with fun emojis. It comes with many new emojis and wallpaper in the Easter egg that is themed around the Space Cat’s faces and monkeys etc. So we can expect the OnePlus and Google Apps to adopt the Material You theme on your OxygenOS phone, and third-party apps.

Android 12 brings with Material You one of the operating system’s most significant UI refreshes in years. The new interface offers more personalized customization options, from wallpaper-based color palette controls to more intuitive animations. Android 13 doesn’t look like it’s going to fundamentally change things, but Google will still bring new features and design tweaks.

Google shared the screenshot above when it launched its first developer preview. The 2022 version of Android lets you theme your icons automatically. Just as you theme the rest of the operating system with Android 12.
Unfortunately, there are two caveats here. The first is that it will only be available on Pixel devices, at least when it first launches. The second is that it will only work with apps where the developer has added a monochrome icon to your content for you to use.
In other words, don’t expect a completely solid and full auto-theming experience when Android 13 first launches. It may take a while for this to be truly automated as per the Google spec.
According to a leaked code-based Android 13 rumor, the OS update could expand the available color theme options by introducing four new palettes related to specific colors or complementary colors. This was later confirmed in Android 13 DP2, but the feature is not yet active.
Google also said that with Android 13-powered Pixel devices, users will be able to automatically theme certain third-party apps. This feature is included in the automatic theme icon setting described in the previous section. Turning this on will match all your supported apps to your phone’s primary colors.
