OPPO, through cooperation with Thales, launched the world’s first eSIM function that supports 5G SA on the latest flagship 5G mobile phone OPPO Find X3 Pro.
The eSIM is an embedded SIM, it does not need to be plugged and unplugged like a traditional SIM card, but is directly embedded in the terminal. The SA (Independent Networking) architecture is one of the mainstream architectures of the future 5G network, which can achieve lower latency and higher flexibility.
Xia Yang, Senior Director of OPPO Carrier Products, said: “Through technical cooperation with Thales this time, we have jointly built Find X3 Pro into the world’s first terminal products to introduce 5G SA eSIM functions.”

Thales is a provider of hardware-based eSIM and eSIM connection management. OPPO’s first smartwatch with a built-in cellular network function, the OPPO Watch series, uses the eSIM solution provided by Thales.
This time, OPPO and Thales launched a research and development cooperation, integrated its eSIM solution into Find X3 Pro, completed eSIM server adaptation, machine debugging and verification, function development, and commissioning, and further cooperated with operators.
The network joint debugging in the current network was carried out to ensure that two SIM cards and one eSIM can be supported on a mobile phone, and the 5G SA network is supported on the eSIM side for the first time.
It is reported that OPPO began to research and development for eSIM technology in 2018. It has launched smartphones that support eSIM, and its first smartwatch product, OPPO Watch, also supports the eSIM solution.
