On Friday, Google removed one of the most used digital payment apps in India, Paytm from Play Store for allegedly Violating Google’s gambling policy.
Paytm is an e-commerce payment system and financial technology company. Paytm is available in 11 Indian languages and offers online use-cases as mobile recharges, utility bill payments, travel, movies, and events bookings, and more.

In a blog post, the vice-president of Product, Android Security, and Privacy at Google, Suzanne Frey said that Google doesn’t allow online casinos or support any unregulated gambling apps that facilitate sports betting.
“This includes if an app leads consumers to an external website that allows them to participate in paid tournaments to win real money or cash prizes, it is a violation of our policies”. She added
Following the suspension, Paytm posted a statement saying the Paytm Android app is temporarily unavailable on Google’s Play Store for new downloads or updates. It will be back very soon. All your money is completely safe, and you can continue to enjoy your Paytm app as normal.
