Players are massively canceling New World pre-orders due to microtransactions

The multiplayer role-playing game New World is once again at the center of a scandal. Players are canceling pre-orders en masse following a leak about an item store in the game.

Earlier, Amazon Games announced that the release of the massive online game New World will take place on August 31 this year. The project was presented back in 2016. Since then, the release date has been repeatedly pushed back.

During the alpha testing of the project, the players managed to find the “assortment of the game store“. Among the goods, they found not only items for changing the appearance of the character, but also various amplifiers of experience, which are designed to “reduce the time spent on pumping.”

Amazon tried to justify itself. The authors only wanted to test the work of the store and items, to balance their cost. Amplifiers are not planned to be added at the start of the game. It is assumed that they will appear a little later so that newcomers can catch up with those who started playing earlier.

The players didn’t believe it. With the latest update, which added the store to the game, the experience bonuses in the game were cut. Threads began to appear on the Reddit forum calling for the cancellation of pre-orders for the game and messages criticizing Amazon’s policies.
