Realme UI 2 Features: New features and improvements we want to see
Realme is yet to update all its compatible devices with the latest Realme UI based on Android 10. But the next version of Android, Android 11, has already received its first developer preview. It means there will be a new custom UI for Realme smartphones, which should be called Realme UI 2.0.
Here’s the list of eligible Realme devices that will get Realme UI 2/Android 11
Realme UI introduced with plenty of neat features, but there’s always room for new features and improvements. Here’s our wish list for the Realme’s Realme UI 2.
Realme UI 2.0 Features:
More privacy features:
Realme UI 1.0 brought some overhauled privacy features, Personal Information Protection. With this feature enabled, this essentially feeds blank data to a third-party app requests for personal information like your call logs, contacts, or messages.
In addition, with Realme UI 1.0, it also protects your files from being deleted by a malicious app. You will get the warning if an app is trying to delete images from your folders.
It wouldn’t hurt if Realme added a few more privacy-focused features to the list, such as a BlackBerry’s Privacy Shade. It automatically sending shots to a file locker when taken with a physical fingerprint scanner or alternative shutter key.
Our suggestion, there could be more privacy features from Apple, such as generating a unique email address that forwards messages to your real address, which will keep your real email address safe from data breaches and other unauthorized activities.
Improved Dark Mode:
Realme smartphones first received the Dark Mode with Color OS 6.1, but the feature was available in beta through Realme Labs. But with Realme UI 1.0, the company brought the Dark Mode for everyone, which is now available in the Display settings of your realme smartphone.
In addition, you can set the Dark Mode to automatically work from sunset to sunrise, you can schedule dark mode to turn on during a specific time interval as well. There’s also an option to force dark mode for third-party apps.
However, we found that the dark interface color feels a bit flat designed and the combination of text and background color could be improved for long term use.
More battery modes
Realme already offers a battery saver mode to help users. There’s no doubt that these battery saving modes have helped users get a little more endurance out of their smartphones.
But sometimes even battery saver isn’t enough. So with that in mind, it would be great if Realme UI 2.0 offers more battery modes, more like a Samsung Ultra Power Saving mode. It is likely to available on Android 11 as well.
Improved Realme Share:
Realme brought the Realme Share file-sharing feature with Realme UI 1.0. The Realme Share feature lets you share files, documents, images, music, etc. But it only works with Realme, Xiaomi, Oppo, and Vivo smartphones. It needs to be fast and secure like Apple’s Airdrop file sharing feature.
Apple’s AirDrop is the winner when it comes to transferring speed tests. On top of that, it uses TLS encryption to send files between the two devices.
A Desktop mode:
This is another feature we’d like to add to our Realme UI 2.0 features wishlist. This feature is already available on smartphones from Huawei and Samsung.
FYI, a desktop mode allows your device to cast a PC-like experience to the big screen with the same apps you use on your phone every day. When paired up with a keyboard and mouse, you’ve got a PC alternative of sorts when traveling or for office presentations.
Optimized charging feature:
Optimized Charging, which aims to make your phone’s battery last longer by changing the way it charges. When the feature is enabled, your device (OnePlus and iPhone) will delay charging past 80% in certain situations.
We’d like to see Realme add this to Realme UI 2.0. It’s particularly important as people are holding onto their smartphones for longer.
That’s it for our Realme UI 2.0 features wishlist, but what would you like to see in an upcoming Realme UI version? Drop your comments below!
