A 12-inch chip factory in Japan’s Renesas, the world’s third-largest automotive chip factory, suffered a fire last month. Although it was quickly extinguished, Renesas has decided to the 12-inch line was temporarily discontinued.
According to official statistics last week, a total of 17 chip production equipment were affected. Renesas Electronics invests more than a thousand people in the resumption of work every day.
The cleanroom recovery operation is expected to be completed within this week. And the new semiconductor manufacturing equipment will be moved in in the near future.
N3 the plant is expected to restart production before April 19, but there are still Several equipment purchases that have to wait until after May, and shipments to return to pre-fire levels are expected to wait until late June.
