Samsung Display plans to begin production of Apple iPad OLED this week
LG Display has already begun production of a type of TFT for the 13-inch iPad OLED. Whereas, Samsung is also planning to begin production of low-temperature polycrystalline oxide (LTPO) thin-film transistor (TFT) for Apple iPad 11-inch organic light-emitting diode (OLED) this week.
According to the information, the first iPad with an OLED panel consists of two types: 13-inch and 11-inch. LG Display produces both 13-inch and 11-inch models, and Samsung Display only produces one 11-inch model. Which will provide a more accurate optics and precise visuals.
To be mentioned, Apple’s first OLED iPad shipment forecast for this year is 8 million units, which is 2 million units lower than the industry’s expectation of 10 million units last year.
However, the expected shipment date for Apple’s OLED iPad finished products is April. Moving on, the Apple OLED iPad product is scheduled to begin production in March and is expected to be released in April.
