Will Samsung release One UI 3/Android 11 update for Galaxy S9 and Galaxy Note 9?

We have a question, how many major Android OS updates will the Galaxy Note 9 and Galaxy S9 series receive? There should be at least 3 major OS updates. Yes, you have to expect the third major Android OS upgrade, why not? You have paid at least $800 for these devices.

Well, the company doesn’t care about your expectations. Both the Galaxy Note 9 and Galaxy S9 series will be subjected to the same software update schedule as the other Samsung flagship devices that came before them, like Galaxy Note 8 and Galaxy S8 series.

Here’s the list of eligible devices that will get the One UI 3.0/Android 11

Samsung Galaxy smartphones are not eligible for no more than two major Android OS updates. Well, these smartphones will continue to receive regular monthly security patches for three years, and quarterly security patches in their fourth year.

We believe, the company should consider extending its update timeframe up to 3 years. Additionally, there will be a lot of new people to join the Galaxy ecosystem, knowing that the device will get at least 3 major OS updates.

Samsung is doing a fantastic job with the software updates recently. The company has been delivering major and regular security patches quite promptly over the last few months, including the March 2020 security patch.

About the Galaxy S9 and Note 9, these devices have already received Android 10-based One UI 2.0 update, the second major Android OS update.

Do you think Samsung should change its software update policy, at least for flagships? Let us know in the comments below.
