Samsung is the number one foldable smartphone brand worldwide in 2020
After launching the world’s first foldable smartphone last year – the Galaxy Fold. Samsung has been the undisputed leader in the market. Not surprisingly, the company is also the number one foldable smartphone brand in the world this year. The company has launched three foldable smartphones this year: Galaxy Z Flip, Galaxy Z Flip 5G, and Galaxy Z Fold 2.
According to a new report from Counterpoint Research, Samsung accounted for nearly 73% of total foldable smartphone shipments this year. The research company estimates, in 2020, 2.8 million foldable smartphones were shipped. Motorola and Huawei are the only two brands with foldable smartphones.

This year, the European market accounts for approximately 29% of global shipments. Foldable smartphones are also popular in Samsung’s home country, South Korea, accounting for 26% of shipments. In 2020, China accounted for approximately 25% of global foldable smartphone shipments, while the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region accounted for approximately 9% of shipments. Other markets, including the United States and India, accounted for 12% of global shipments.
According to Counterpoint Research, Samsung will continue to maintain its leading position in the foldable smartphone market. According to the report, the foldable market will grow to 17 million units by 2022.
The Galaxy Z Fold 2 is a more refined version of Samsung’s large-view foldable large-screen smartphone. According to previous reports, Samsung is preparing to launch 4 foldable smartphones in 2021.
