According to the latest report from market research agency Omdia, Apple is adjusting the supply chain of iPhone 14 OLED panels. Samsung Display, LG Display, and BOE remain the top three suppliers. LG Display will be responsible for supplying LTPS and LTPO, while BOE will supply LTPS backplane OLEDs.
Moreover, Apple’s iPhone 14 series is expected to be officially launched in the third quarter of 2022. Omdia estimates that the size and resolution of the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max will change due to the introduction of a dual-hole design to the screen.

The iPhone 14 and 14 Plus feature the same notch form factor as the iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max, so will retain the same size and resolution. Omdia estimates that in 2023, the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus will be the same size and resolution as the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max models released in 2022.
Future smartphone displays may be equipped with an under-screen Face ID system, but Omdia estimates that under-screen Face ID may not be possible in the short term, and the iPhone will retain the dual-hole design for the next few years.
Omdia estimates that similar to the iPhone 13 era, Samsung Display, LG Display, and BOE are still the top three suppliers of flexible OLED panels. Samsung Display is also the largest supplier, supplying all iPhone 14 models. LG Display and BOE have changed their supply strategy – LG Display will be responsible for supplying LTPS and LTPO models, while BOE will supply LTPS models.
According to Omdia’s forecast, Apple will purchase more than 205 million flexible OLED displays from Samsung Display, LG Display, and BOE in 2022. Samsung Display will supply OLED displays for all iPhones, iPhone Pro, iPhone Plus, and iPhone Pro Max. LG Display will supply OLED displays for the iPhone 13, 14, and 14 Pro Max models, while BOE will supply OLED displays for the iPhone 13 and 14.
