Samsung will now deliver four years of security updates for Galaxy devices, securing over 130 models

Samsung has made a notable improvement in speeding up its security updates over the past decade. The company closely worked with Google and chipmakers as well as more than 200 global carriers to deliver up-to-date security patches to billions of Galaxy devices.

Four years of regular security updates:

Even after its already impressive software (Android/security) updates policy, today, Samsung announced that the Galaxy devices will now get regular security updates for at least four years after the initial phone release. In addition, the company is committed to providing security updates as quickly as possible to keep its users safe.

“Mobile devices play such an important role in our lives, it’s only natural that we want to hold onto them longer. That’s why, thanks to the latest technology advancements, we’re committing to securing Galaxy devices for even longer, so that everything that should be kept protected stays protected.” – said Seungwon Shin, VP & Head of Security Team at Mobile Communications Business, Samsung Electronics.
