Samsung’s One UI 7.0 beta is making waves with significant updates, especially in animations and the Calendar app. While the beta introduces new features, Samsung acknowledges there’s still room for improvement, particularly in animation quality.
Animations in One UI 7.0 Beta Need More Work
A key focus of One UI 7.0 is its revamped animations, aimed at making the user interface smoother and more engaging. However, feedback from beta testers indicates that app transition animations in the first beta are not yet perfect.
A tester on Samsung’s US Community forum noted that an earlier internal build had more fluid app opening and closing animations compared to the beta release. In response, a Samsung moderator confirmed these observations, stating that animation improvements are ongoing and will evolve during the beta testing phase.
Samsung’s goal with One UI 7.0 is to create a user interface that feels “Simple,” “Impactful,” and “Emotive.” The company emphasized this vision during the Samsung Developer Conference (SDC) 2024, where it revealed plans for a more seamless and emotionally engaging user experience. A second beta update is expected soon, which could bring further refinements.
New Features in Samsung Calendar App
Alongside One UI 7.0, Samsung has released an update for its Calendar app (version 12.6.00.40), introducing features that improve usability and customization. Here’s what’s new:
- Drag to Move Events: You can now drag and drop events to different dates directly on the calendar, making rescheduling faster and easier.
- Customizable Widgets: The Calendar widget can now display events from specific calendars, helping you focus on what matters most.
- Countdown Widget: A new countdown feature in the event details screen shows the number of days left until an event, like a birthday or meeting.
- Bulk Event Transfers: Users can move multiple events between calendars at once, a handy feature for managing multiple schedules.
This Calendar update is available via the Galaxy Store and has a package size of about 52MB. It is compatible with devices running One UI 6.1.1, such as the Galaxy S24 series in India.
Upcoming Updates
While One UI 7.0 beta is already live in some regions, Samsung plans to roll it out to Galaxy S24 series devices in India starting December 16. Until then, users can explore the features in the first beta or update their Calendar app for improved functionality.
Samsung’s continuous improvements in One UI 7.0 and its apps highlight the company’s commitment to enhancing the user experience through innovative and user-friendly technology.
